Company History

Vaughan & Blyth have been established since 1950 and since then they have successfully carried out a variety of development and contracting projects in the area. The many contracts range from private residential an commercial projects to referbishments, industrial buildings and residential homes for the elderly. Many of the projects have been carried out within a design and build package utilising the in-house facilities of a drawing office, steel fabrication and joinery workshop within our new office/workshop complex at Whitehall Road, Colchester


Residential Development

Over the years Vaughan & Blyth have completed many private residential development projects ranging from one individual unit to large multi-unit developments and small housing estates. All elements of the design and project management are handled in-house.


The Limes is a small development of 5 executive houses set in mature woodland in the centre of Ardleigh. Lexden Park is a prestigious development of town houses and apartments, set in the grounds of Lexden Park House, overlooking the picturesque nature reserve.

Refurbishments


Refurbishment projects remain a speciality of Vaughan & Blyth, utilising the expertise of our experienced tradesman and in-house facilities of steel and joinery workshop. Recent projects include the Grand Hotel, Clacton-on-Sea a magnificent turn of the century building, now sympathetically restored and converted into 19 apartments. Other refurbishment projects include Hardings Boatyard and Shipwrights Wharf, both properties in the popular town of Wivenhoe and Central Maltings, Woodbridge.

Industrial


To emphasise the variety of projects undertaken by Vaughan & Blyth, are the many industrial buildings that have been constructed in the area. The Company design, detail, fabricate the steel and construct the building, often to the client's requirements.

Design & Build


The company can offer a complete design and build package. This has recently been utilised by Colne Housing and Shaftesbury Housing for whom we have completed two large developments. Saxon Close was awarded the Braintree Environmental Heritage Award. All elements of the projects are handled from inception to completion in house by our own specialist team.
